Dr. Shanthi Mogali is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and currently serves as Chair of Psychiatry at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and Westerly Hospital. Her research focuses on medication development and opioid self-administration studies to address opioid use disorders. She completed her MD at Meharry Medical College and a BA at Fisk University, with additional training in addiction psychiatry at Columbia University and general psychiatry at Emory University.
Her work includes studies on the effects of medications like naltrexone, minocycline, and pioglitazone on opioid abuse potential and craving reduction. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications on topics such as genetic influences on opioid response and pharmacological interventions for substance use disorders.
Dr. Mogali’s clinical and research expertise lies in addiction psychiatry, with a strong emphasis on translational research to improve treatments for opioid dependence. She has held leadership roles in hospital departments and maintains an active role in clinical trials and academic publishing.
