Shantanu Bhattacharya

Shantanu Bhattacharya is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). He holds a PhD from the University of Missouri, USA, and has built a distinguished career in micro/nano engineering.

Research Interests

Professor Bhattacharya’s laboratory focuses on cutting-edge interdisciplinary areas that straddle mechanical engineering, materials science and biomedical engineering. His primary themes include Bio-MEMS for healthcare diagnostics, Lab-on-a-Chip platforms integrating sample preparation and detection, Nanotechnology-enabled sensors and actuators, advanced Microsystems Fabrication techniques, and transport phenomena in Microfluidics. These efforts collectively aim at miniaturized, low-cost, high-performance devices for point-of-care diagnostics, environmental monitoring and energy applications.
