Shannon Sauro is a Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), with a focus on technologically-mediated language teaching and learning. Her research explores intersections between fan practices, digital literacy, and second language acquisition, particularly through virtual exchange and task-based methodologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania and is a docent in English language education at Malmö University.
