Dr. Shannon Duffy is Professor of Instruction in Early American History at Texas State University's Department of History. She holds a Ph.D. from University of Maryland, M.A. from University of New Orleans, and B.A. from Emory University.
Her research focuses on Early American history, particularly Revolutionary and Early National periods, with expertise in constitutional/legal history. She teaches courses on Colonial America, Revolutionary America, Early Republic, and specialized topics including crime in Early America and Quaker history.
Professor Duffy's publications examine pivotal moments in early US history including the Quasi-War with France, War of 1812, and political ideologies preceding the American Revolution. Her work analyzes primary documents to illuminate constitutional development and political conflicts in formative America.
