Shannon Ang is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Deputy Director of the Centre for the Study of Social Inequality at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Her research focuses on the intersections of social connectedness, societal change, and well-being, with an emphasis on quantitative methodologies. She explores how social relationships and participation influence physical/mental health across life stages, particularly in aging populations. Her work has been published in journals like Social Science and Medicine and Demography.
Education includes a PhD and MA in Sociology, and an MA in Statistics from the University of Michigan (2020), and a B.Soc.Sci. (Hons) in Sociology from National University of Singapore (2015). She actively collaborates on research projects and maintains a focus on methodological innovation in sociological studies.
