Shangyong Shi is the Pim Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins University's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Her research bridges atmospheric science and hydrology, focusing on precipitation phase transitions using in-situ observations and satellite data. She develops improved phase partitioning methods applicable to satellite retrievals and hydrological modeling.
Education:
- Ph.D. Meteorology, Florida State University (2024)
- M.S. Meteorology, Florida State University (2020)
- B.S. Atmospheric Science, Nanjing University (2018)
- Exchange Program, National Taiwan University (2017)
Her research examines temperature sensitivity of precipitation phases and vulnerability to climate change, with collaborations focused on developing satellite snowfall retrieval algorithms. Current work investigates precipitation phase impacts on streamflow under climate change scenarios.
