Dr. Shane Owens is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. A graduate of the university’s theology program (MA 2013), he returned to the Ohio Valley after teaching at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Louisiana and contributing to academic institutions in Washington, DC, including completing his doctorate in historical theology at the Catholic University of America.

His scholarship centers on the biblical theology and ecclesiology of St. Augustine of Hippo, alongside the Franciscan intellectual tradition. He has a forthcoming book on Augustine’s Confessions titled Return to the Heart, published by Emmaus Road Publishing.
Owens has taught courses at the Dominican House of Studies and the Catholic University of America, reflecting his expertise in historical and theological studies. His current research bridges Augustinian spirituality with Franciscan philosophical frameworks.
