Professor Levin's research focuses on cross-cultural intergroup conflict, examining how emotions, threat perceptions, and social identities influence intergroup attitudes and behaviors. Her work applies social dominance theory to understand prejudice and political violence across cultural contexts, particularly between Western societies and Middle Eastern populations. She has developed innovative theoretical frameworks connecting resource domination threats and value contamination threats to specific intergroup emotions like anger and disgust/contempt.
Her publication record shows a consistent trajectory of impactful research spanning two decades, with recent work increasingly focusing on the psychological mechanisms underlying political violence and asymmetric conflict. The articles demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach, bridging social psychology with political science, Middle Eastern studies, and cultural psychology to address complex real-world intergroup conflicts.
