Shamim Pakzad is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University. He leads the Center for Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS), focusing on structural health monitoring (SHM) using wireless sensor networks. His research emphasizes damage detection in bridges, system identification, signal processing, and probabilistic methods for assessing structural reliability. He holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, an M.S. from San Jose State University, and a B.S. from The Baha’i Institute for Higher Education in Iran.
