Dr. Shalini Sivathasan is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling, Developmental, and Educational Psychology department at Boston College. She holds a Ph.D. from McGill University, an M.A. from New York University, and a BSc (Hons) from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on neurodiversity, disparities in healthcare access, and developmental approaches to emotional/behavioral health across the lifespan.
Her work addresses autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through studies on aggression in preschoolers, emotion recognition in music/faces, and mental health disparities in neurodivergent populations. She has been affiliated with institutions like the Marcus Autism Center and the University of Pittsburgh, contributing to clinical assessments and interventions. Key awards include the Autism Science Foundation Grant (2021) and SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship (2017–2020).
Dr. Sivathasan’s research spans clinical, developmental, and translational psychology, emphasizing equitable care for neurodivergent individuals. Her lab, the Intersections Lab, explores intersections of neurodiversity with social-emotional development.
