Kelly K. Powell, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the Yale Child Study Center within Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in pediatric developmental disorders with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment, particularly in children under 5 years old. Dr. Powell co-directs the Yale Toddler Developmental Disabilities Clinic and serves as a psychologist in the NICU GRAD program.
She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from American University (2012) and completed pre-/post-doctoral fellowships at Yale. Her research examines phenotypic expression, developmental trajectories, and outcomes in ASD, including neuroimaging correlates and early behavioral markers.
Dr. Powell's research interests center on ASD assessment methodologies, executive functioning in young children, pediatric neuroimaging applications, and early intervention strategies. Her work frequently employs fMRI to study attention mechanisms and developmental pathways in neurodiverse populations.
She maintains active involvement in two clinical trials: 'Emotional development in infants at risk for ASD' (Sub-Investigator) and 'Study of Brain Function Across the Lifespan' (Sub-Investigator). Dr. Powell leads the Toddler Developmental Disabilities Program and collaborates extensively through the Chawarska Lab.
