Shaina Holmes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Television, Radio and Film at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She specializes in visual effects, post-production, and digital media, combining academic teaching with a prolific career in the film and television industry. Holmes has worked on over 200 projects, including major films like 'Chicago,' 'The Notebook,' and TV series such as HBO's 'True Detective.' She founded Flying Turtle Post, offering mentorship and services to independent filmmakers.
Her professional experience includes roles at Deluxe and Method Studios, where she managed visual effects divisions. At Ithaca College, she established Park Post, a student-led post-production group, which later inspired the Syracuse University Post (SUP!) initiative at Newhouse. Holmes is a member of the Visual Effects Society and NYWIFT, and her work on 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' earned a VES Award nomination.
Her teaching focuses on practical skills like animation, visual effects analysis, and post-production practices, blending academic rigor with industry expertise.
