Shahzad Bashir

Shahzad Bashir is the Aga Khan Professor of Islamic Humanities and Professor of History at Brown University, with affiliations in Religious Studies, Middle East Studies, and South Asian Studies. He specializes in the intellectual and social history of Iran, Central Asia, and South Asia, focusing on medieval to modern periods. His research explores topics such as Sufism, Islamic chronology, and digital reformulations of historical narratives. Notable works include A New Vision for Islamic Pasts and Futures (2022) and The Market in Poetry in the Persian World (2021).
