Shahir Safi is an Assistant Professor of Economics (Tenure-Track) at the New Economic School (NES) in Moscow, Russia. He will be a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge's Janeway Institute from December 2025 to February 2025. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Barcelona School of Economics), where he was advised by Salvador Barberà with Andreu Mas-Collel as Dissertation Chair.
His research specializes in Applied Micro Theory, Industrial Organization, and Public Economics, with a focus on networks theory and information economics. His work explores referrals, organizational management, contract theory, and policy interventions (e.g., subsidies in R&D collaboration networks), aiming to understand firm behavior and policy efficacy.
Research output includes 2 publications in top journals, 4 working papers, and 3 ongoing projects, demonstrating consistent contributions to network economics and strategic communication.
