Dr. Shahid Alvi is a Professor in the Department of Criminology and Justice within the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Ontario Tech University. He holds an MA in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD in Sociology from Carleton University.
His research explores:
- Digital victimization and netnography
- Social exclusion and online incivility
- Violence against women and gender-based crime
- Youth crime and criminal justice systems
- Political economy of crime
- Technology's impact on education and society
His publications predominantly focus on criminological theory, digital society impacts, and marginalized communities, with recent work examining online misogyny, educational technology, and intersectional identities.
