Shafi Goldwasser is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and Director of the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing. She holds affiliations with the Berkeley Center for Responsible, Decentralized Intelligence (RDI) and the Center for the Theoretical Foundations of Learning, Inference, Information, Intelligence, Mathematics and Microeconomics at Berkeley (CLIMB). Her research focuses on cryptography, computational number theory, complexity theory, and probabilistic proof systems. Goldwasser has received numerous accolades, including the ACM A.M. Turing Award (2012) and multiple Test of Time Awards (2021). Her educational background includes a Ph.D. (1984), M.S. (1981) in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and a B.S. in Mathematics and Science from Carnegie Mellon (1979).
