Shadnaz Asgari

Dr. Shadnaz Asgari is a Professor and Chair of the Computer Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Department at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), with a joint appointment in Biomedical Engineering. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA (2008) and conducted postdoctoral research at the UCLA Neurosurgery Department.

Her research focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Signal Processing, and Computational Physiology to address complex clinical and biomedical challenges. Her work spans AI-driven healthcare solutions, physiological signal modeling, and critical care analytics, with over 85 peer-reviewed publications and $3.5 million in research funding.

Key research trends from her publications include: (1) AI applications in epidemiology and virology (e.g., SARS-CoV-2 immunity modeling), (2) computational approaches for neurological monitoring (e.g., intracranial pressure analysis), (3) signal processing innovations for medical diagnostics (e.g., pulse onset detection), (4) educational research on online engineering education, and (5) interdisciplinary collaborations in biomedical device design.
