معرفی
Dr. Shadi Ostovari is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Civil Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University's School of Engineering and the Built Environment. A Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), she holds leadership roles including Vice Chair of ICE Kent and East Sussex and committee membership with IStructE.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Structural and Earthquake Engineering, University College London (2010)
- MASc in Structural Engineering, Carleton University
- BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering
- PG Cert in Higher Education, University of Greenwich
Her research integrates computational methods with practical structural engineering challenges, specializing in finite element modeling of shell structures under seismic loads, 3D printing applications in construction, and sustainability-driven optimization. She bridges industry experience from firms like Arup with academic innovation, particularly in digital manufacturing and earthquake-resistant design.
Recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward advanced digital construction techniques, with emphasis on automated concrete shell fabrication and evolutionary algorithm applications for structural optimization—reflecting industry shifts toward sustainable, computationally-driven engineering solutions.
Her professional recognition includes:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Dr. Ostovari actively mentors Chartered Engineer candidates through ICE and supervises research students, leveraging 25+ years of combined academia-industry experience. Her teaching spans structural mechanics and sustainable design, informed by extensive consultancy work on tall buildings and dynamic analysis projects.
She contributes to global engineering discourse through IASS Working Group 5 (Continuous Shells) and international conferences including IASS and WCEE, focusing on next-generation structural analysis methodologies.
