Shaddin Almasri

Shaddin Almasri, PhD MSc, is a Senior Scientist at the University for Continuing Education Krems' Center for Migration and Globalisation Research. He holds a PhD in Migration Studies from Danube University Krems and an MSc in Migration, Mobility and Development from SOAS, University of London. His research focuses on inequalities among refugee and migrant groups, particularly in the SWANA and East Africa regions, examining intersections between aid, development, and integration policies. He currently investigates perceptions of inequality and migrant relations in North Africa through the MixedRivals project, analyzing factors influencing inter-group solidarities/rivalries.

Key research themes include nationality-based refugee aid dynamics in Jordan and Türkiye, the Jordan Compact's labor inclusion strategies, and the political economy of refugee integration. His work critiques exclusionary policies and explores how humanitarian responses perpetuate nationality-based disparities. Almasri has presented at global conferences like IMISCOE and collaborated with organizations including the Institute for Migration Studies and the International Organization for Migration.

He is affiliated with the Department for Migration and Globalisation, contributing to projects like Smart Migration and Asylum Governance (SMAG).
