Dr. Shadab Haque is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in drug delivery systems within the Drug Delivery Disposition & Dynamics research group. With over a decade of research experience documented through 25 research outputs, Dr. Haque has established significant expertise in pharmaceutical nanotechnology and pulmonary drug delivery systems.
Research interests focus on:
- Advanced liposome and nanoparticle delivery systems
- Pulmonary drug delivery mechanisms and optimization
- Pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of nanocarriers
- Immunological responses to drug delivery platforms
- Formulation development for challenging therapeutic molecules
Analysis of recent publications reveals a strong trajectory in pulmonary delivery research, with 2024 work examining how liposome composition affects immune responses and developing novel polymer-based pulmonary delivery platforms. The research integrates experimental and computational approaches to solve critical drug delivery challenges, particularly for pandemic therapeutics and difficult-to-deliver molecules like peptides.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Australian postgraduate research scholarship (2014)
- Exceptional thesis of the highest merit in top 1-5% (2018)
- 1st prize poster presentation (2016)
- Faculty of pharmacy PG research scholarship (2017)
Dr. Haque serves as a Chief Investigator on the CGCPT: Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics Round 2 project (2025-2028), demonstrating leadership in pandemic response research. The work has attracted substantial media attention, with 16 press/media features highlighting the innovative approaches to drug delivery systems and their potential applications in treating respiratory conditions.
Current research activities focus on developing advanced drug delivery platforms for pandemic therapeutics, with particular emphasis on pulmonary delivery systems that can enhance drug efficacy while minimizing adverse immune responses, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
