Prof. Sevim Cesur serves as Professor in the Department of Psychology at Istanbul University's Faculty of Literature since 2018, following progression from Assistant Professor (2004-2012) to Associate Professor (2012-2018) at the same institution. She previously worked as Research Assistant at Bogazici University's Department of Psychology (1997-2000) and Acıbadem Yuva as a psychologist (1997).

Research Interests:
Her work centers on Moral Psychology, examining how moral foundations interact with political and religious orientations in Turkish society through Social Domain Theory. She investigates Values and Attitudes in consumption, prejudice mapping, and intergroup relations, particularly between Turks and Kurds. Her Gender Studies research analyzes domestic violence, infidelity, and pornography attitudes through sociocultural lenses.
Publication trends (2023-2025) reveal intensified focus on time appropriation measurement, children's moral frameworks, and tourism's role in ethnic reconciliation. She consistently bridges theoretical social psychology with Turkish-specific contexts, especially regarding democracy conceptualization and relational model violations.
Thesis Advisory and Grants:
Prof. Cesur has supervised 16 theses (3 doctoral, 13 master's) on moral values, political identity, and gender dynamics. Her doctoral students include O.Yılmaz (2019) on belief in subjective morality, F.Sevgili (2018) on Turkey's prejudice map, and E.Bakiler (2016) on tolerance values. She executive-led the Higher Education Institutions-funded project (2019-2023) investigating primary school children's moral concepts in Turkey.
