Seung Yeon Lee is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Graduate Art Therapy Program at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She holds an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University, an M.A. in Art Therapy from NYU, and a B.S. in Child and Family Studies from Yonsei University, South Korea. Her research focuses on flow theory in art therapy, particularly supporting young immigrants through acculturation challenges. She has pioneered cross-cultural art therapy initiatives in South Korea, Nicaragua, and Israel, enhancing intercultural competencies curricula for graduate students.

Her research emphasizes culturally responsive art therapy frameworks, published in journals such as American Art Therapy Association, Arts in Psychotherapy, and Art Education.
