معرفی
Setsuko Sahara is a Senior Lecturer and Group Leader at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and Department of Genetics. She leads research on cortical neurogenesis and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her work focuses on molecular mechanisms governing progenitor differentiation and regenerative strategies for the nervous system.
Dr. Sahara holds a PhD from Kobe University and completed postdoctoral training at Osaka University and the Salk Institute. She joined King's College London in 2012 as a Lecturer, advancing to Senior Lecturer. Her research addresses autism spectrum disorder and macrocephaly through studies of cortical development.
Key collaborators include Dr. Eugene Makeyev (King's College London), Dr. Yasuhiko Kawakami (University of Minnesota), and Prof. Charles F. Stevens (Salk Institute). She contributes to the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and the Autism Spectrum Disorder research group.
Her publications explore progenitor cell kinetics, tubulin modifications, and genetic tools for studying brain development. Research highlights include uncovering Tuba8's role in progenitor differentiation and developing improved mouse models for conditional gene knockout studies.
