Seth Robia, PhD is a Professor at the Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology within Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine. His research focuses on transport ATPases, particularly the SERCA calcium transporter's role in cardiovascular physiology and ion regulation. He employs advanced techniques like fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations to study protein structure-function relationships.
Education:
- BA in Chemistry and Biology from Saint Olaf College (1996)
- MS and PhD in Physiology from University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002)
Research interests center on understanding how transport ATPases regulate intracellular calcium dynamics critical for heart muscle contraction. Recent work explores micropeptide regulation of SERCA, phospholamban interactions, and oxidative stress impacts on calcium handling. Over 66 publications highlight contributions to membrane biology and cardiovascular mechanisms.
His Robia lab actively investigates protein regulatory networks using interdisciplinary approaches. Office located at CTRE 526, Health Science Campus, Maywood, IL.
