معرفی
Serra E Favila is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cognitive and Psychological Sciences at Brown University. Her research focuses on the cognitive and neural mechanisms of episodic memory, particularly how memories interact with each other and the environment to shape adaptive behavior.
Education:
- BA in Human Biology from Stanford University (2011)
- PhD in Psychology from New York University (2019)
- Postdoctoral training at Columbia University (2019-2024)
Research Interests: Dr. Favila investigates: (1) how interactions between memories influence their storage and retrieval, (2) the bidirectional relationship between visual perception and memory systems, and (3) the adaptive value of memory imperfections through environmental context and computational modeling. Her methods include functional neuroimaging, intracranial recordings, behavioral experiments, and eye-tracking.
Recent Publications: Her work explores hippocampal coding in memory interference (2016-2025), visual cortex memory dynamics (2022-2025), and computational models of reactivation (2020). Key themes span memory plasticity, spatial cognition, and neuroimaging biomarkers.
Teaching: Currently teaches CLPS 1480I - Memory, Space, and the Hippocampus.
Lab & Collaborations: Leads the Favila Lab at Brown University. Collaborators include Mariam Aly (Columbia), Josh Jacobs, Brice Kuhl, Jon Winawer, and Anthony Wagner.
