Sergio Delgado Moya is an Associate Professor of Latin American and Latinx Studies at the University of Chicago, with previous roles at Emory University and Harvard University. He holds a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from Princeton University (2010), an MA from Princeton, and a BA in Philosophy and Spanish from UC Berkeley.
His research focuses on cultural history, aesthetics, and the intersections of art, violence, and marginalized communities in the Americas. Key projects include studies on Mexican/Brazilian art during consumer culture's rise, sensationalism as an archive of systemic violence, and Chilean art under dictatorship. Courses taught include Latinx life writing, radical readings of Latin American/Latinx works, and cultural landscapes of the U.S./Mexico border.
Publications include essays in Pop América, 1965-1975, Critical Times, and the Routledge Companion series. Current work explores the sensory dimensions of violence in literature and visual arts, emphasizing gender, race, and class dynamics.
