Sergio Almaraz-Calderon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Florida State University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research investigates nuclear astrophysics, structure, and reactions using advanced accelerator facilities.
He earned a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics from the University of Notre Dame (2012) and was a postdoctoral fellow at Argonne National Laboratory (2011-2014).
Research focuses on experimental studies of nuclear processes relevant to stellar evolution. Current projects include breakup dynamics of exotic nuclei, resonance spectroscopy, and fusion reaction measurements.
Publications emphasize reaction mechanism studies and detector development. Recent work resolves discrepancies in fusion cross-sections and explores nucleosynthesis pathways.
No awards or student mentoring are documented.
