Sergey Kovalchuk is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Digital Transformation and Senior Researcher at the National Center for Cognitive Research, ITMO University, Russia. He also teaches at the Institute of Design & Urban Studies and heads the Master’s programmes in Computational Biomedicine and Digital Healthcare.
Education:
- 2006 – BSc/Spec., Software of Computing and Automated Systems, Orenburg State University
- 2008 – PhD in Engineering, ITMO University
Research interests revolve around mathematical and computational modelling of complex systems, high-performance and distributed computing infrastructures, and intelligent knowledge-oriented technologies applied to e-Science and digital healthcare domains.
He leads the Digital Healthcare research team, supervises Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students, and serves on ITMO’s Academic Council and the Academic Council of the School of Translational Information Technologies. Since 2016 he acts as visiting editor for annual special issues of the Journal of Computational Science devoted to the ICCS conference.
