Sergey Boronin is an Assistant Professor at Skoltech and Head of the Laboratory for Digital Modelling of Multiphase Systems in Oil and Gas Industry within the Project Center for Energy Transition and ESG. His career spans theoretical and applied fluid mechanics research, focusing on multiphase systems and energy transition technologies.
- Education: PhD (2008) and MSc (2005) in Mechanics from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.
Sergey's research centers on theoretical fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, and their applications in hydraulic fracturing, geological CO2 storage (CCUS), and particle transport. His work bridges hydrodynamic stability analysis with numerical methods, targeting industrial challenges in oilfield technologies and energy transition projects.
At Skoltech, he has led over 20 industrial research projects in energy transition and CCUS, authored 65+ publications including 29 in top fluid mechanics journals, and secured 8 patents. He lectures on multiphase flow modeling to MSc and PhD students.
- Scientific Awards: Laureate of the G.I. Petrov Prize, Rospatent award winner.
