Dr. Sergey Anfinogentov is a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's Physics Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant. His research focuses on MHD oscillations, coronal seismology, and solar magnetic fields. He holds a PhD in Solar Physics from the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (Irkutsk, Russia) and an MSc in Physics from Irkutsk State University.
Education:
- PhD in Solar Physics (2007–2010), Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS, Irkutsk, Russia
- MSc (Specialist) in Physics (2002–2007), Irkutsk State University
Research Interests:
- Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) oscillations and waves in the solar atmosphere
- Coronal seismology
- Image processing techniques
- Magnetic field dynamics in solar active regions
His recent work emphasizes coronal loop seismology, solar flare dynamics, and multi-wavelength diagnostics. Key contributions include studies of decayless kink oscillations, microwave emission analysis, and automated 3D coronal modeling frameworks. His research has advanced understanding of coronal heating mechanisms and flare triggering processes.
Funding & Supervision:
- Supervised by Prof. Valery Nakariakov
- Funded by ERC Grant 'Magnetohydrodynamic Wave Diagnostics of the Solar Atmosphere'
Labs/Teams: Active contributor to the Physics Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics, collaborating with ISSI-BJ (International Space Science Institute) on MHD seismology projects.
