معرفی
Prof. Sergei Chernyshenko is a Professor of Aerodynamics at Imperial College London's Department of Aeronautics within the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on fluid dynamics, turbulence, and polynomial optimization techniques applied to fluid mechanics. He holds a DSc (Russian professorial-level degree) from Moscow State University and has held academic positions at institutions including the University of Southampton and Imperial College London since 2007.
Education:
- PhD (Kandidat Fiziko-Matematicheskikh Nauk), 1983
- DSc (Doktor Fiziko-Matematicheskikh Nauk), 1995
- Diploma in Mechanics, 1977
Research Interests: Long-term research addresses turbulence, high-Reynolds-number asymptotics, and drag reduction. Short-term studies include hydraulically-driven centrifuges and aerostatic platforms. His work integrates applied mathematics, computational methods, and experimental validation.
Awards & Grants: Recipient of multiple research grants including EPSRC funding for 'Sum-of-squares approach to global stability' and Royal Society grants. Notable awards include the 1997 Best-paper award and Russian State stipends for outstanding scientists.
Academic Leadership: Served as Director of the MSc in Advanced Computational Methods (2008–2024) and developed the Flow Illustrator web tool for fluid flow visualization. Active in international collaborations, presenting at conferences such as SIAM, APS, and Isaac Newton Institute programs.
