Serena Petrocchi

Dr. Serena Petrocchi is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Università della Svizzera italiana’s Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, affiliated with the Institute of Family Medicine. She holds a MSc and PhD in Psychology from the Catholic University of Milan and was nationally qualified as an Associate Professor in 2020. Her research focuses on psychosocial determinants of health, decision-making in healthcare, doctor-patient relationships, pediatric medicine, and decision fatigue among physicians.

Dr. Petrocchi coordinates the Master in Cognitive Psychology in Health Communication and teaches courses like Health Communication and Advanced Research Methods. She has held postdoctoral roles at Keele University (UK) and the European Institute of Oncology, funded by EU grants like Marie Curie and H2020.

Her work explores topics such as trust dynamics in healthcare, moralization of health behaviors, and pediatric early diagnosis of autism. She collaborates with institutions like the European Alliance for Personalized Medicine and maintains an affiliation with the Laboratory of Applied Psychology and Intervention.
