Sercan Demiralay is a Principal Lecturer in Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University (NTU), appointed in July 2020. Previously, he held academic positions at the University of Sheffield (International Faculty in Thessaloniki), Istanbul Gelisim University, and Yeditepe University. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with a Ph.D. in Financial Economics, he concurrently serves as NBS's Continuous Improvement Manager, leading quality enhancement initiatives across academic programs.

His research centers on sustainable finance, responsible investing, and corporate social responsibility (CSR), with recent emphasis on green investing and the impact of workplace Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) policies on corporate environmental performance. His scholarly work appears in ABS 4* and ABS 3* journals including Economics Letters, Energy Economics, and Journal of Environmental Management.
Analysis of his 2021-2024 publications reveals dominant themes in sustainable finance, geopolitical risk, and climate change. Key contributions examine risk-return profiles of green assets, carbon credit futures as hedging instruments, and geopolitical tensions affecting sovereign credit. His work also explores cryptocurrency diversification benefits, AI/robotics stock co-movements during COVID-19, and terrorism's impact on emerging market finance.

Dr. Demiralay actively supervises PhD candidates in sustainable finance, green investing, and CSR. He collaborates with academic leadership on accreditation strategies and provides line management for quality assurance staff.
He directs NBS's systematic continuous improvement framework, integrating module health checks, student feedback analytics, and strategic interventions to elevate educational outcomes. His role encompasses operational quality management, accreditation support, and cross-departmental collaboration to implement evidence-based teaching enhancements.
