Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap YILDIZ is a faculty member at Kastamonu University's Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Conservation and Restoration of Artworks, where she has served since 2016. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at Ordu University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics and Glass (2014-2016), and a Research Assistant at Afyon Kocatepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department (2010-2014), as well as at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department (2004-2010).
Her educational background includes a PhD in Sculpture from Dokuz Eylül University's Institute of Fine Arts (2007-2014), a Master's Degree in Sculpture (2003-2007), and a BA in Sculpture from Hacettepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts (1998-2002).
Dr. YILDIZ's research focuses on sculpture, small objects restoration, contemporary art practices, and ecological art. Her work explores spontaneity and improvisation in artistic creation, deformation in modern art movements, and the intersection of art with social awareness. She has examined how artists like Isaac Cordal use irony in public spaces and how Andy Goldsworthy incorporates natural elements in ephemeral works.
Her recent publications reveal a growing interest in sustainability, with articles on land art and eco-tourism, recycling in contemporary art, and ecological consciousness. Her scholarly output spans multiple disciplines including art history, sculpture theory, gender studies, and traditional craftsmanship.
Dr. YILDIZ has supervised seven master's theses at Kastamonu University, with topics ranging from contemporary installation art to textile performances and geometric visual effects in animation character design. She has also served as department chair at both Kastamonu University (2017-2019) and Ordu University (2015-2016).
She has participated in 92 artistic events, including national and international exhibitions, symposiums, and art festivals, demonstrating her active engagement with the contemporary art community. Her recent projects include the TÜBİTAK-funded 'İklimin Geleceği Geleceğin İklimi' (Future of Climate, Climate of the Future) project as an instructor in 2024.
