Dr. Seonyoung Kim is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management at Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University. She holds a PhD in Tourism-related urban regeneration and has expertise in urban tourism, tourism policy, destination management, and accessible tourism. Her research explores intersections between tourism and socio-economic issues like inequality, sustainable aviation, and climate challenges.
Education: BSc Tourism Management (South Korea), MSc Sustainable Tourism, and PhD in Tourism-related urban regeneration (Sheffield Business School).
Teaching includes modules on Tourism Planning, International Air Travel Management, and Research Methods. She has led postgraduate courses and served as Subject Group Leader for Tourism (2016–2021). Currently on secondment with the University's Academic Strategy team.
Research focuses on tourism-driven inclusive growth, destination image analysis, and accessible tourism through the capability approach. Recent work examines Brazil's Northeast tourism and UK urban regeneration.
Professional roles include Executive Committee member of the Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE).
