Dr. Seokbin Lim serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), where he leads the Energetic Systems Research Group. Contact: bin.lim@nmt.edu | 575-835-6589 | Weir Hall 119.
His research specializes in high-energy mechanical systems with emphasis on:
- Energetic material science, technology, and safety protocols
- Shock physics and tension dynamics
- Computational modeling of detonation phenomena
- Design of energetic-mechanical systems including shaped charges (CSCs/LSCs) and explosively formed penetrators (EFPs)
The Energetic Systems Research Group focuses on experimental and theoretical analysis of detonation gas mechanics and advanced energetic system development under Dr. Lim's direction.
