Senka Henderson

Dr. Senka Henderson is a Lecturer in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at QUT's Faculty of Education, specializing in science education. She transitioned from a research career in pharmacology and biochemistry to focus on pedagogy, particularly in emotions in science classrooms, context-based learning, and mindfulness. Her contributions include three ARC-funded projects exploring pre-service teachers' emotional experiences and student engagement. She has authored chapters in Brill and Routledge volumes on educational innovations.

Dr. Henderson has been recognized with two QUT Health & Safety Awards and a Vice-Chancellor's Award. She co-organized the 2019 HDR conference for four universities and serves as a Health & Safety Advisor for the Faculty of Education. Her research spans STEM education in developing countries, curriculum integration, and teacher efficacy.

Her work emphasizes emotional dynamics in classrooms, leveraging techniques like cogenerative dialogue and mindfulness-based interventions to enhance learning environments. Key projects include studies on student emotions during role-play and socioscientific storytelling, reflecting her focus on integrating real-world contexts with scientific concepts.
