Professor Selina Todd is a Professor of Modern History at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Hilda's College. Her research specializes in modern British history, focusing on working-class life, women's experiences, and social mobility. She employs oral histories and autobiographies to explore class, gender, and education dynamics. Key publications include The People (2014) and Tastes of Honey (2019), with her first book winning a Women's History Network award.
Her collaborations include MaD Theatre Company, the Socialist Educational Association, and policymakers advocating for equality. She teaches courses like Britain from the Bomb to the Beatles (1945–67). Current research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, exploring social mobility since 1800. She actively engages with community organizations and writes for the Guardian on equality issues.
Professor Todd supervises DPhil students in feminism, class inequality, and working-class studies. She co-leads the Oxford Gender, Identity and Subjectivity Centre’s Rags to Riches project and coordinates the transnational Women, Work and Value network.
