Selahattin Beser

Selahattin Beser is a researcher and collaborator at the Ben-Gurion Chair for Israel and Middle East Studies at Heidelberg University of Jewish Studies (HfJS) since December 2022. He is also a student of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Heidelberg and HFJS since October 2022. His work intersects international law, Middle Eastern history, and public policy.

• Education: Law degree from University of Heidelberg (2009-2015), foreign language proficiency in Arabic Law via Dr. Bawar Bammarny's course.
• Professional Experience: Legal traineeship in Mannheim/Heidelberg/Bangkok (2015-2017), crisis response roles at German Foreign Office (2018-2020), and research assistant at an international criminal law firm during the Al-Khatib trial (2021).
• Research Focus: Ottoman administrative history, Middle Eastern studies pedagogy, and international legal frameworks related to state accountability.
• Publications: Peer-reviewed work on Ottoman settlement policies in Aleppo and interdisciplinary educational approaches to Middle Eastern studies.
