Dr. Seher Ülker is a Lecturer in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University's Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Physiology from Akdeniz University (2018) and previously served as Research Assistant at Akdeniz University's Department of Physiology (2010-2018). Her academic appointments include multiple administrative roles: Deputy Head of Department (2021), Director of Research and Application Center (2020), and General Coordinator for Disabled Students (2019).
Her research focuses on vascular physiology mechanisms, particularly carbon monoxide pathways in vascular tone regulation, exercise-induced vascular adaptations, and hypertension models. She investigates how aging, exercise training, magnesium supplementation, and 20-HETE inhibition affect vascular reactivity in resistance/conduction arteries using rodent models. Recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate continued productivity in journals like Journal of Surgical Research and Turkish Bulletin of Hygiene.
Dr. Ülker actively supervises graduate students with four recent theses (2023-2025) on rehabilitation topics including knee osteoarthritis, archery performance, temporomandibular dysfunction, and multiple sclerosis frailty. She teaches 8+ courses annually across undergraduate and graduate programs, covering physiology fundamentals, exercise physiology, and rehabilitation science.
Key research contributions:
- Parabiosis effects on vascular aging (2022)
- Carbon monoxide regulation in hypertensive models (2020)
- Exercise adaptations in vascular tone (2019)
- Magnesium therapy mechanisms in hypertension (2015-2016)
- 20-HETE pathway in trained vasculature (2018)
She has led 6 nationally funded research projects (2009-2018) including TÜBİTAK 1002 support. Dr. Ülker also contributes to rehabilitation literature through book chapters on temporomandibular dysfunction, sarcopenia, and exercise modalities.
