Prof. Dr. Seda ÜNSAR is a Professor at Doğuş University's Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations. She holds a PhD from the University of Southern California, an MA from Claremont Graduate University, and a BA from Koç University, where she graduated as the 49th top scorer (ÖYS 49.su). Her academic journey includes visiting scholar roles at the London School of Economics and a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellowship at the European University Institute (EUI). She has authored the academic novel "Düşüş: siyaset ve felsefe odasında aşk hikayeleri" (2022) and co-edited "Revisiting Secularism in Theory and Practice: Genealogy and Cases" (2020).

Her research spans the political economy of secularism, institutional theory, and historical sociology, often critiquing structural transformations in the Ottoman Empire and modern Turkey. Her work also explores Islamic political thought, democratization challenges in the Middle East, and path dependency in political systems. Articles highlight interdisciplinary analyses, combining political philosophy, critical theory, and empirical studies of public goods provision and state formation.
Key awards include the 2013 Academic Encouragement Award (Istanbul Arel University), Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Award (2006), and Vehbi Koç Tam Burs (1994). She has advised multiple MA theses on topics ranging from EU youth policies to international security, and her editorial contributions include chapters in "Political Economy of Muslim Countries" (Cambridge Scholars, 2018) and "Another Brick in the Barricade: The Gezi Resistance" (Wiener Verlag, 2015).
