Sebastián Vargas Vázquez

Sebastián Vargas Vázquez is a faculty member in the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Seville, specializing in Roman archaeology with particular focus on mosaics and architectural studies of the Baetica region in southern Spain. His academic journey began with doctoral research at Universidad Pablo de Olavide, where he completed his thesis on geometric designs in mosaics of the Conventus Astigitanus in 2013 under the supervision of Dr. Guadalupe López Monteagudo, Dr. Rafael Hidalgo Prieto, and Dr. María del Pilar León-Castro Alonso.

His research interests span Roman archaeology, classical archaeology, and particularly the study of Roman mosaics across Andalusia, with extensive fieldwork at sites including Italica, Écija, Antequera, and Cártama.
