Sebastián Massanet Massanet

Dr. Sebastián Massanet Massanet is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He has held academic roles since 2011 and currently teaches courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Mathematics, Computational Intelligence, and Data Mining disciplines.

His research focuses on Soft Computing, particularly the study of fuzzy logical connectives (implications and aggregation functions) and their applications in approximate reasoning, decision making, and biomedical image processing. He has participated in 6 national research projects (2 as PI) and 6 FECYT science communication projects (5 as PI).

Dr. Massanet serves on the Editorial Board of Fuzzy Sets and Systems, International Journal on Approximate Reasoning, and International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems. He has organized special sessions at leading conferences like EUSFLAT and IPMU, and participated in 6 conference organizing committees.

He was co-director of the Master's Degree in Intelligent Systems (2018-2023) and coordinator for UIB in the Mathematical Talent Stimulation Project (ESTALMAT) since 2019.
