معرفی
Sebastian Randel is a Professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), affiliated with the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ) within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT). His research focuses on advanced photonic systems, including optical communication technologies, terahertz communication, silicon photonics, and hybrid integration. Randel leads projects in coherent optical networks, optical arbitrary waveform generation, and high-speed signal processing. He has contributed to innovations in frequency comb applications, photonic wire bonding, and 3D-printed optical components. His work spans theoretical and experimental aspects, with over 100 publications in prestigious journals and conferences.
Key research areas include: optical waveform measurement (OAWM), terahertz transceivers, silicon-organic hybrid modulators, and quantum-dash lasers. Randel collaborates with industry partners like Huawei and academic institutions globally to advance next-generation communication systems.
His team develops cutting-edge technologies such as self-injection-locked soliton microcombs for LiDAR and ultra-broadband photonic-electronic systems. The IPQ lab under his leadership pioneers solutions for 6G wireless communication and high-capacity optical networks.
