Dr. Sebastian Perumbilly is a Professor in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Southern Connecticut State University, affiliated with the College of Health and Human Services. He is recognized as a Fulbright Research Fellow, Clinical Fellow, and Approved Supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
- Teaching Interests: Couples Therapy, Diversity and Multicultural Competence, Research Methods in MFT, Evidence-Based Practice, Spirituality in Therapy, Clinical Supervision.
- Research Focus: Moral injury in military families, parental personal growth, substance use disorders in family systems, cultural adaptation of therapeutic models, and technology adoption in Indian higher education.
His research explores individuation and identity formation in couple relationships, with grants such as "Clinical Strategies for Engaging Families in Addiction Treatment" and "Impact of COVID-19 on Personal Wellbeing." Awards include the Fulbright Research Fellowship and AAMFT Clinical Fellow designation.
