Sebastian Lohsse is a Professor of Law at the University of Münster (WWU), leading the Center for European Private Law (CEP). He holds a Habilitation and PhD from the University of Bonn and has held visiting positions at Nanjing University. His academic career includes roles as Managing Director of the CEP and Principal Investigator in multiple DFG-funded projects. Lohsse specializes in Roman Law, medieval legal studies, and the harmonization of European private law, particularly focusing on obligations, property law, and their historical evolution. His research bridges ancient Roman legal principles and their modern applications, with a strong emphasis on East Asian legal reception studies. He leads projects such as 'Contract Law between Legistics and Canonistics' and 'Speculation, Contract, and Religion,' addressing contemporary legal challenges in digital economies and cross-cultural legal frameworks.
