معرفی
Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hasenstab-Riedel leads the Inorganic Chemistry group at Freie Universität Berlin’s Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His research bridges halogen chemistry, quantum-chemical calculations, and sustainable processes, with a focus on fluorine-specific interactions and high oxidation states. As a principal investigator, he directs projects like SFB 1349 and ERC HighPotOx.
- Education: PhD in Theoretical Chemistry (2006), Habilitation in Inorganic Chemistry (2013)
- Current Roles: Professor (W3), ERC Consolidator Grant holder, Speaker of SFB 1349
His work explores fluorine-specific bonding, superacids, and polyhalogen systems through matrix isolation spectroscopy and computational methods. Recent publications highlight breakthroughs in fluoronium ion structures, challenging conventional electronegativity paradigms.
Key awards include the Münch Prize, Roesky Prize, and ERC Grant. He has been recognized for teaching excellence (2016) and holds editorial roles in journals like the Journal of Fluorine Chemistry.
