Sebastian Dahm is a Lecturer in the Qualitative Methods of Empirical Social Research group at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Sociology, under Prof. Dr. Ruth Ayaß. He holds a Master's degree in Sociology (with distinction) from Bielefeld University and a BA in German and Sociology from KIT Karlsruhe. His research focuses on qualitative methods, including ethnography, ethnomethodology, and grounded theory, with a particular interest in hacking and making practices, epistemic engagement with technology, and digital media. Dahm has contributed to studies on technological innovation, the sociology of science and technology, and the methodological challenges posed by digitalization. His teaching emphasizes qualitative research methods and the digitalization of education. Current projects include exploring epistemic practices in technological innovation and maintaining academic contributions to sociological methodological discourse.
Professional History: Since May 2020, he has been a Research Associate at Bielefeld University, focusing on his dissertation topic 'Hacking and Making: Epistemic Practices of Technological Innovation.' Previously, he was a Research Associate at the Graduate School 'Innovation Society Today' at TU Berlin (2018–2020).
