معرفی
Sebastian Aniţa is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, University Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Iaşi, Romania. His academic career spans over three decades, with positions progressing from Assistant (1990-1993) to Assistant Professor (1993-1996), Associate Professor (1996-2001), and Professor since February 2001. He serves as a Doctoral advisor since 2003 and has held numerous visiting positions at prestigious institutions including University of Trento, University of Bordeaux, Northwestern University, and INRIA Bordeaux.
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, University "Al.I. Cuza" Iaşi (1989-1991)
- Faculty of Mathematics, University "Al.I. Cuza" Iaşi (1983-1987)
Professor Aniţa's research focuses on Partial Differential Equations, Nonlinear Functional Analysis, and Control Theory with applications to mathematical biology and economics. His work centers on parabolic equations, reaction-diffusion systems, spectral analysis, nonlinear semigroups of operators, optimal control of parabolic and hyperbolic equations, controllability and stabilizability for reaction-diffusion systems, and shape optimization. His research has significant applications in population dynamics, epidemiology, and spatial economic modeling.
The most recent publications reveal a strong trend toward interdisciplinary applications of control theory, particularly in spatially structured economic models with pollution diffusion, epidemiological systems, and biological control of pests. His work demonstrates sophisticated mathematical techniques applied to real-world problems across multiple domains including economics, environmental science, and public health. The publications consistently feature collaboration with prominent researchers like V. Capasso, showing his integration into international research networks.
- Gheorghe Lazar prize of the Romanian Academy, 2000
- 1995-1996: NATO-CNR fellowship, University of Trento, Italy
- 1998: post-doctoral fellowship at University of Pau, France
- 2007: First prize of the Education and Research Ministery for the CEEX grant 5-D11-36/2005
Professor Aniţa has served as Director of the Exploratory research project ID 381 (2007-2010) on "Optimal control and stabilization of the continuous models of population dynamics" and Director of the Romanian team for the Bilateral italo-romanian project on "Reaction-diffusion equations, theory, numerical methods and related optimal control problems" (2006-2008). He is a member of the Excellency Research Center: "Mathematical Analysis and Applications" directed by Acad. V. Barbu. His teaching responsibilities include Partial Differential Equations and Differential Systems and Applications in Biology, Physics and Economics at the Master's level.
His research team work focuses on reaction-diffusion systems with applications to epidemiology, population dynamics, and economic modeling. The work often involves spatial structures and nonlocal interactions, requiring sophisticated control techniques for stabilization and optimal management of complex systems.
