Dr. Sean Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Winchester. He holds a BA from the University of Bath, and an MA and PhD from the University of Birmingham's CREES. Prior to Winchester, he worked at the University of Portsmouth, the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), the Aleksanteri Institute, and the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. His research focuses on Russian foreign policy, authoritarian regime dynamics, and post-Soviet regional integration. Notable publications include works on the Eurasian Economic Union and Russian influence in Armenia. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals, policy analyses, and public commentary on Russian politics. His work integrates field research, elite interviews, and comparative frameworks to analyze authoritarian systems and geopolitical challenges.
Education: BA Politics (University of Bath), MA/PhD Politics (University of Birmingham).
Research Interests: Russian foreign policy, authoritarianism, Eurasian integration, post-Soviet politics, and comparative political systems. His studies often address how authoritarian regimes adapt and project influence regionally and globally.
Professional Activities: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Associate member of the British Political Studies Association (PSA), and BASEES. His work has been supported by grants from the Norwegian Research Council and the ESRC.
